Artist Statement

I feel in real time, the scents, sounds, colors, the warmth and chill on my skin and trace it back to a previous time in my life. I try to represent these sensations with the emotions that come with them in my work. I found that a lot of these sensations are triggered from nature as nature has its ways of being able to be constant in memories and in the present. It brings both movement and stillness, elements I try to incorporate in my work.  I work intuitively and embrace the perfect imperfections that nature teaches.

To create these sensations, application of materials plays a role in my practice. I see materials and mediums as an extension of myself and I let them speak for themselves as they assist me.  I believe materials and mediums have a way of partnering with you and merging with the user  to discover yourself through them. My art physically consists of play and exploration as a result of that, from collage work to mixed media. The stylistic choices come from my desire to express my internal world and the types of media I consumed growing up and were drawn to.
